I know, I know

Not much activity seems to be reported here, but believe me there is a lot going on with the band behind the scenes. We are now in the month of August, and that means it’s the month that Elementary begins their record-recording!

As to our three-step process, this is where we are along in the process:

1) Record demos of songs (1st round) – COMPLETE
2) Practice recording songs on real drumset and with only one guitar line (either clean-only or distorted-only) – STARTED
3) Record demos of songs (2nd round) – NOT STARTED YET

As an added bonus, here’s a collection of the choruses to our 1st round of album demos. One song didn’t get finished (“Bad Romance”, sorry!) and one was super new it was written after demos so we didn’t even get around to it yet (“I’ll Be Seeing You”). Remember, these were just demo’s folks, so we let a few things slip that we won’t in the studio. But regardless, enjoy!

Press the green arrow to get your face rocked off!

Oh, and had to do a little tweaking of the layout because I accidentally deleted the banner pictures while updating. Whoops! These are just temporary as I’m sure we’ll have some new ones when the album draws near.

rock and roll hotel, the video

Feathers and the sound guy at the Rock and Roll Hotel were smart/cool/nice enough to get us a combination of audio from both the sound board, and the room — and that means we’ve got a video with some halfway decent audio for you. This particular clip is of “Dale Does Drugs”, a song it seems like we’ve been working on forever, but finally debuted on Sunday night.

We’ve got the entire show, more or less, so maybe we’ll add some more songs as we go through them. But the important thing is that if you want to see it in person (which, I’m told, is much better), you need to get yourself out to Jammin Java next week and experience it for yourself.

And don’t worry, my singing will improve by then. I was just practicing in the car this morning, in fact. I’d work on bass at the same time, but I’m pretty sure that’s even more dangerous than text messaging.

Elementary on iTunes, Amazon, and some stuff I’ve never heard of

If you’re one of our hundreds of billions of international fans, you may be wondering how you can obtain a copy of Elementary’s exciting, six track demo CD. I suppose we could mail you one, but what about our friends in repressive regimes ruled by aggressive military juntas that search the mail and confiscate radical, counter-thinking pieces of art, like our album? Huh?? What about them????

As usual, I got your solution right here (shakes fist at monitor), buddy. Because today, you can buy our record at any one of a bazillion online music distributors, from iTunes (famous), to Amazon (cheap) to Napster (still around?) and even something called “imvu”, which sounds like a town Borat would have grown up in. We’ve had the stuff up for a week or so, and while we initially faced some technical difficulties, everything looks to be working just fine now, so go nuts.

The complete list of online stores we’re on includes :

  1. iTunes
  2. AmazonMP3
  3. Shockhound.com
  4. Rhapsody
  5. Napster
  6. Amie Street
  7. imvu
  8. eMusic
  9. lala
  10. LimeWire Store
  11. Nokia Music Store

Man, who names some of these things? Plus, here’s a friendly tip — if you can’t find us searching for “Elementary”, try one of our song names with an odd name, like “X-Ray Kids”. That one worked for me.

our night at the Rock and Roll Hotel

In case you missed it, we played the Rock and Roll Hotel, in good old Washington, DC last night along with Greg Roth and the Bargains, and The Killer Balloons, who were nice enough to let us tag along. Maybe it was the Friday night, maybe it was the venue, or maybe we just got lucky, but it ended up being an awesome show — we all had a blast, the crowd was into it, and in my humble bass playing opinion, this was by far the best Elementary show yet. Hopefully we’re on an upward curve.

What??? You don’t believe me??? Well, fortunately for you, I’ve got video evidence of said rocking-out, courtesy of our Facebook page. Buckle up.

See? That’s really us. Really, would I lie to you? Anyways, thanks again to the R&R Hotel for hosting a great night, and as always, stay tuned for updates on future shows/adventures.
